Bulldogs Grind Out 48-36 Win Over Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas -- Sophomore Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) tallied a game-high 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs and Sydney Shaw (Lockhart/Lockhart) added 10 points Saturday evening to lead Texas Lutheran to a gritty 48-36 victory over Austin College at Hughey Gymnasium on the campus of Austin College.

Mulkey also added two assists and two steals to go along with her third double-double of the season.

Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) led the Bulldogs with three assists in addition to her eight points. Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) recorded seven points and six rebounds while Taylor Skurka (New Braunfels/Steele) tallied her second consecutive double-digit rebound performance - collecting 10 rebounds in addition to four points.

Texas Lutheran led 11-7 after a first quarter that saw the 'Roos shoot 14.3% percent as a team. The second quarter would be more competitive as the 'Roos would take their lone lead of the game, before Texas Lutheran would rally to take a 23-18 lead into halftime.

Texas Lutheran would lead for the entire second half - holding Austin College to eight points in the third and only 10 in the fourth - to secure their first conference win of the season.

After an early season slate that saw the Bulldogs play 11 games in 23 days, the Bulldogs will enjoy a week-plus off before returning to Memorial Gymnasium on December 16 to face the University of St. Thomas Celts as conference play continues.
