Women's Basketball falls to St. Ambrose, 67-50

SEGUIN, TX -- Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) scored 15 points, draining four 3-pointers but that was not enough as the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs fell to NAIA opponent St. Ambrose 67-50 at Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday.

The loss broke Texas Lutheran's three-game win streak as the Bulldogs (5-5) return to a .500 record.

The Bulldogs trailed 20-11 after the first quarter and 40-18 at the half, but the Bulldogs would outscore the Fighting Bees 15-10 in the third quarter to bring the score to 50-33 after three quarters.

A combination of plays from Kailee Mulkey, Chaeli Criddle (Canyon Lake/FEAST), and Kailey Lacy (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) brought the Bulldogs within 13 points with 1:49 remaining, but that's the Bulldogs would ultimately fall to the visiting Fighting Bees 67-50.

The Bulldogs struggled from the field shooting 27.1% from the field in comparison to St. Ambrose's 50% mark. The Bulldogs shooting woes ultimately decided the game with the Bulldogs winning the turnover margin (11-15) while trailing minimally in other decisive categories. St. Ambrose lived in the paint tallying 34 points in the paint and holding a +20 advantage in the points in the paint department over the Bulldogs.

Mulkey led the Bulldogs with 15 points while Sydney Shaw (Lockhart/Lockhart) gathered a team-high nine rebounds.

The Bulldogs will enjoy Christmas Break before hosting Worcester State on December 30th in their final non-conference matchup of the season. Tip-off is set for 5 PM at Memorial Gymnasium. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
