Kay, White Earn SCAC Weekly Honors
SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Softball was honored with two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) weekly awards on Monday as junior outfielder Annie Kay (Sinton/Sinton) repeats as SCAC Hitter of the Week and senior right-handed pitcher Amanda White (Lockhart/Lockhart) was tabbed SCAC Co-Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference.
Kay has earned SCAC weekly honors in consecutive weeks after taking home SCAC Hitter of the Week recognition April 21. Kay has now earned three SCAC Hitter of the Week awards this season while White has earned SCAC Pitcher of the Week twice. Texas Lutheran has taken home four of the last five SCAC Hitter of the Week honors.
In total, the Bulldogs have taken home nine SCAC weekly awards this season.
Kay hit .900 last week while driving in four runs and scoring another six. The Sinton native also stole six bases as she continues to compete with her teammate Caelee Clark for the national lead as Kay sits at 55 stolen bases on the season.
For the season, Kay is hitting .496 with 48 runs, three doubles, one triple, 30 RBI, 13 walks, and a .538 slugging percentage. She is currently riding a 16-game hitting streak during which she has driven in 23 runs. Kay now ranks in the top 20 in Division-III in batting average, hits (59), runs, and stolen bases.
White appeared in all three of TLU's wins last week, going 2-0 with one save, nine strikeouts, and a perfect 0.00 earned run average .For the week, White posted a .96 WHIP to go along with her perfect ERA. The righty spun a complete game shutout in TLU's 7-0 win over McMurry in the series finale. She also won the series opener and earned her fifth save of the season in game two. With her fifth save of the season, she passed former teammate Sydney Ouellette for most saves in a single-season in program history. White sits at 19-0 with five saves for the season.
The Lockhart native ranks fourth in NCAA Division-III in wins, is third in saves, and is fifth in ERA with a 0.64 ERA in 2025.
The Bulldogs clinched the No. 1 seed for the 2025 SCAC Softball Championship Tournament this weekend, May 2-4, at Taylor-Sanders Field on the campus of Southwestern University. The Bulldogs will get the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 seed game and play on Friday at 4 PM. The championship will take place on Sunday, May 4. The SCAC Tournament will be shown on FloSports.
