Kay, White Named to NFCA Player & Pitcher of the Year Watch List
SEGUIN, Texas -- Two members of the Texas Lutheran softball team have been named to the 2025 NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year Watch List, the NFCA announced Thursday.
Junior Annie Kay (Sinton/Sinton) and senior Amanda White (Lockhart/Lockhart) are among the 119 student-athletes on the midseason watch list.
Voted on by the NFCA's Division III All-American Committee, the 2025 NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year winners will be announced on June 6 following the conclusion of the NCAA Division III Finals. All student-athletes are eligible for the end-of-the-season awards and do not have to be on this list to be considered.
The NFCA Player of the Year award was created in 2016 to honor outstanding softball achievement in NCAA Division III. In 2019, the Association expanded the award to include separate Player and Pitcher of the Year honors.
Kay has followed her 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove and NFCA All-West Region Second Team campaign with a phenomenal senior season, slashing .420/.478/.444 for a .922 OPS across 26 starts as the Bulldogs everyday centerfielder. Kay currently leads NCAA Division-III with 34 stolen bases so far this season and owns the Bulldogs best batting average. Kay has a career-high 15 RBI to go with a triple and 28 runs scored.
White is 13-0 with a SCAC-leading 0.91 ERA in her first season as the TLU number one starter, appearing in 18 games and making 13 starts. The senior right-hander has thrown five complete games and two shutouts, striking out 57 across a staff-leading 84.2 innings pitched. Opponents are batting just .171 off White with a meager .422 OPS. White ranks second nationally in wins and saves (4) and 11th in appearances with her four saves tying Sydney Ouellette for the most in a single-season in program history.
Kay, White and No. 6 Texas Lutheran will host Southwestern on Friday, April 4, as the two teams begin a three-game SCAC series at Ed Kruse Stadium. First pitch is slated for 5 PM with the game being broadcast on TLU+. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
