Texas Lutheran's Clark, White Sweep SCAC Weekly Softball Awards

SEGUIN, Texas -- No. 4 Texas Lutheran softball has collected both Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) weekly awards as freshman Caelee Clark (Montgomery/Lake Creek) earned Hitter of the Week honors and senior Amanda White (Lockhart/Lockhart) has been named Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today. The honors are the first in both of their careers.

TLU is the second team to sweep softball's SCAC weekly awards this season. The Bulldogs' sweep also marks their first since March 21, 2022, when Casey Martin and Ashlyn Strother were named Hitter of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Amanda White recorded the Bulldogs first no-hitter of 2023 in a complete game win over 25th-ranked Piedmont on March 8. The no-hitter was the first of White's career, allowing only one walk and striking out five.

Along with the no-no, White got the nod in TLU's second game of its 2023 conference opening series against Schreiner on March 11. She collected her second win of the week and her fifth of the season after 4.0 innings of work in which she kept the Mountaineers scoreless and allowed only two hits while striking out six.

On the week, White maintained a 0.00 ERA (tied first in the SCAC), posted two shutout victories (tied first in the SCAC in wins and shutouts on the week) and kept opposing hitters to a .053 batting average. White currently ranks second in the SCAC in wins (5), ERA (1.17 ERA), and strikeouts (35) and is tied for the lead with one save on the season.

Freshman Caelee Clark led the SCAC and Bulldogs in batting average in week five, posting a 10-for-14 (.714) showing at the plate in a five-game week, including going 8-for-10 in conference play against Schreiner.

Clark also tallied a .765 on-base percentage, .714 slugging percentage, four RBI, and 11 stolen bases (first in the SCAC). Clark now leads NCAA Division-III with 25 stolen bases and is second in the SCAC with a .556 batting average. Her four stolen bases Sunday fell one short of the TLU single-game record of five by Kelly Jurden in 2021 and she is now four stolen bases short of Jurden's freshman stolen base record of 29 in 2018.

The Bulldogs will enjoy their spring break before playing a non-conference doubleheader vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday, March 21, at Ed Kruse Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6 & 8 PM. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
