TLU Sweeps LeTourneau, Extends Winning Streak to Ten

SEGUIN, Texas -- No. 1 Texas Lutheran took a pair of games against the visiting LeTourneau Yellowjackets on Monday at Ed Kruse Stadium to extend their winning streak to 10 games. The Bulldogs topped LeTourneau 6-1 in game one before run-ruling the Yellowjackets 10-0 in six innings in game two.

The Bulldogs have only allowed three runs over the course of their last seven games and run-ruled their opponents in three of those games.

Junior Bailey Hudgeons (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) continued her blazing start to the 2022 season in game one, going two-for-three at the plate. Hudgeons finished with 2-RBI courtesy of an RBI triple in the first inning and RBI single in the third inning. Laura Hernandez (Missouri City/Ridge Point) and Olivia Prinz (Georgetown/Georgetown) each registered as the Bulldogs would cross a run in every inning but the second inning.

In the circle, Sydney Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) collected her third win of the season, striking out five while allowing six hits and one walk, tossing all seven innings for the Bulldogs. The win marks her second complete game win of the season (2/12 vs. Whitworth).

Junior pitcher Amanda White (Lockhart/Lockhart) struck out five - holding the Yellowjackets hitless through four innings. White would would go the distance in a six inning, two hit, one walk effort. It marked White's second career complete game. White currently leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in earned run average maintaining a 0.76 ERA.

After a slow start, the Bulldogs would score seven runs across the second through fourth innings to take a 7-0 lead.

Freshman Faith Hernandez (Dinuba, Calif./Dinuba) would get the scoring started with an RBI single in the second. The Bulldogs poured on four more in the third with a 2-RBI single from Chassety Raines (Spring/Klein Collins) and a two-run home run from Bailey Hudgeons. Linzee Leal (Corpus Christi/Mary Carroll) and Casey Martin (Pearland/Pearland) would score in the fourth to put the game out of reach.

Nine Bulldogs registered a hit in the contest with four bringing in at least one run. Laura Hernandez and Bailey Hudgeons led the team with three RBIs - with Hernandez's all coming from her three-run home run that would bring the game to an end and the final 10-0 score.

The top-ranked Bulldogs meet Mary Hardin-Baylor in a doubleheader on Wednesday in Belton, Texas, at 3 & 5 PM at Dee Dillon Field. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
