Texas Lutheran pushes SCAC win streak to 35 games with 9-0 victory over Dallas

SEGUIN, Texas -- Six-time defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion Texas Lutheran pushed its conference win streak to 35 games with a 9-0 victory against the University of Dallas.
 
The Bulldogs, the reigning NCAA Division III national champions after winning the title in 2019, have not lost an SCAC contest since March 2, 2019.
 
Friday at TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium (Morck Softball Field), the Bulldogs tallied a run in the second, six runs in the third, and two more runs in the fourth to post their 21st overall win of the 2021 season.
 
The Bulldogs, ranked third in the latest NFCA poll for NCAA Division III, are now 21-4 overall and 12-0 in the SCAC.
 
TLU pushed its overall win streak in the 2021 season to 13 games.
 
Dallas fell to 2-12 overall and to 2-11 in the SCAC.
 
Chassety Raines hit a two-run double in the six-run third inning. She added an RBI groundout in the fourth.
 
Sarah Metzer, Haley Padilla, and Kelly Jurden each had two hits, and Metzer drove in two. She had an RBI single in the third and an RBI double in the fourth.
 
Jurden stole three bases, bringing her season total to 37 steals in 38 attempts. Jurden, the TLU and SCAC career leader in steals, now has an even 150 career stolen bases. She has been caught just six times.
 
McKay Bloxham also collected two RBI. She had a sacrifice fly in the second and an RBI triple in the third.
 
Ashlyn Strother allowed just two hits in four innings and improved to 8-1 in the circle.
 
TLU and Dallas play a noon doubleheader Saturday at Ed Kruse Stadium. Home team fans are allowed into the stadium as long as they are on the TLU Softball player pass list. Four home team fans per TLU player are allowed.
