Acero Earns SCAC Field Athlete of the Week Honors for Second Time This Season

SEGUIN, Texas -- No. 9 Texas Lutheran track and field junior Ezra Acero (San Antonio/Harlan) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Ezra was a highlight for the Bulldogs at the Bobcat Invitational - breaking his own school record and becoming the new leader in Division-III with a 5.02m (16' 5.5") mark. The mark won his section, tying with pole vaulters from Division-I Sam Houston State and Arkansas State. The 5.02m mark surpasses his previous school record of 4.91m set last season. Acero also finished 12th in the javelin with a mark of 49.48m (162' 4").

This is Acero's fourth career weekly honor. Texas Lutheran has earned the SCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor four out of five weeks so far this season with Dalon Harris also earning the honor twice.

Acero and the Bulldogs will enjoy a week off before traveling to Abilene for the War Hawk Classic hosted by McMurry University April 12-13.
