Track and Field's Dalon Harris Named SCAC Field Athlete of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran thrower Dalon Harris (Garland/Lakeview Centennial) has been tabbed the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's CO-Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State, according to a league announcement Tuesday. Harris shares the honors with Casey Hampton, a senior jumper from Trinity.

This marks the second honor for the TLU throws team this season and the first of the freshman's career. Harris, an USTFCCCA All-Region performer during the 2022-23 indoor season joins Ezra Acero, Julissa Rodriguez, and Elijah Jefferson as SCAC weekly award winners so far this season.

Harris matched his longest toss of the season in the shot-put last weekend at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational. In a highly competitive field, filled with athletes across all divisions, Harris qualified for the finals and finished seventh with a throw of 15.03m. It is currently the top mark in the SCAC and third in the entire West Region.

Up next, Texas Lutheran travels to San Angelo for the David Noble Relays hosted by Angelo State on Friday, April 7.
