Men's Tennis Advances to Quarterfinals after 5-0 Sweep of Austin College
WACO, Texas -- For the first time since 2019, Texas Lutheran men's tennis is moving on to the SCAC Championship Tournament quartefinals as the sixth-seeded swept the 11th-seeded Austin College 'Roos, 5-0, in Thursday's opening round matchup.
The win extends the Bulldogs' win streak to four straight matches.
The Bulldogs took an immediate 2-0 lead after winning #5 and #6 singles by default.
The Bulldogs then made quick work of the 'Roos winning #2-#4 singles in straight sets. Revel Wicks (Portland/Gregory-Portland) won at #2 singles 6-3, 6-1. Eric Moninger (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) won at #3 singles 6-2, 6-1 and Kadon Sullins (Kyle/Lehman) put the match away with a 6-3, 6-0 win in #4 singles.
Texas Lutheran faces a Colorado College team that is ranked No. 72 in the country in the ITA Rankings and eliminated the Bulldogs in the 2023 SCAC Tournament in the last matchup between the two teams.
