Texas Lutheran Competes in Day Two of Men's ITA Southwest Regional Championships

ABILENE, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's tennis team competed in day two of the 2022 ITA Southwest Regional Championships hosted by Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, on Friday.

Freshman Cashton Herrera (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) picked up Texas Lutheran's lone singles win in the A Draw before having to withdraw in the second round due to injury. Freshman Eric Moninger (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) would drop his opening match before picking up a 6-0, 6-4 win in the consolation bracket.

Logan Randall (Idalou/Idalou) would win 6-1, 6-1 in the opening round of the C Draw but would drop his second round match 1-6, 3-6. Xavier Cristan (Corpus Christi/Flour Bluff) and Brandon Nieto (Sinton/Sinton) would each lose in their opening matches before following with wins in the consolation bracket - advancing to the Saturday consolation bracket semifinals in the process.

Austin Hudson (San Marcos/San Marcos) would pick up two wins in the D draw to Saturday morning's semifinals - winning his opening match 6-0, 6-2 before winning his quarterfinal match 6-4, 1-6, 10-5.

The team of Eric Moninger and Logan Randall would secure Texas Lutheran's lone doubles win on Friday - winning 8-2 over University of Dallas - to advance to Saturday's semifinals.

The ITA Southwest Regional Championships continue on Saturday with the Bulldogs competing in singles and doubles competition.
