Bulldogs Trio Earn All-Region Honors
SEGUIN, Texas -- The United Soccer Coaches announced Tuesday that Texas Lutheran midfielders Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) and Erick Lopez (Humble/Humble) and defender Diego Roman (Houston/Lamar) have each been named All-Region selections. This is the first time since 2019 that TLU has had three honorees.
Manke was named a First Team All-West Region selection while Lopez and Roman landed spots on the Second Team.
Manke, a 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-American, earns All-Region honors for the second consecutive season following a 2024 season that saw him named to the All-SCAC Second Team. Manke, who started 15 matches, played a pivotal role in the Bulldogs defense that held teams to nine shutouts this season. Manke also added eight points with three goals and two assists. Manke ends his highly decorated career playing in the tenth most matches in program history, playing in 73 matches over the course of his career.
Lopez earns All-Region honors for the first time in his career after being named All-SCAC Honorable Mention. Lopez led the team with five assists and finished his career with 11 assists, finishing his career as one the best facilitators in TLU history. He would also add two goals on the season.
Roman, who was a Third Team All-West Region honoree last season, tallies his second straight All-Region honor to finish his collegiate career. Roman started all 16 matches in 2024 as the team posted nine shutouts on the season and ranked amongst the top 25 defenses throughout the 2024 season, ending the regular season with a 0.63 goals against average - the best in program history. Roman also scored a career-high three goals in 2024 to tie for second on the team.
