Men's Soccer Finishes Season with 1-1 Draw against Concordia on Senior Day

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team (9-2-5, 5-2-4 SCAC) concluded the 2024 season with a 1-1 draw against Concordia (TX) (9-5-4, 6-4-1 SCAC) on Sunday at Gustafson Field.

The draw is the fifth of the season for the Bulldogs, matching the program record set in 2022. The draw along with a 2-1 win by Southwestern over McMurry and a 4-1 win by St. Thomas over Austin College brought both the Bulldogs and the Tornados season to an end despite both teams leaving Sunday's match with a point.

Both teams were held scoreless in the first half and the match would remain scoreless until a 67th minute goal from Concordia.

In the 83rd, senior Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point) equalized the contest 1-1 for TLU on an assist from senior Erick Lopez (Humble/Humble).

Senior goalkeeper Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) made three saves on the afternoon.

Following Sunday's game, Texas Lutheran honored its 18 player senior class in Senior Day festivities. We thank them for all of their contributions to the Texas Lutheran men's soccer program.

The Bulldogs  - a team picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll - conclude the 2024 season with a 9-2-5 record, going 5-2-4 in the SCAC to claim fifth place in the conference in the regular season. Texas Lutheran, a team that has ranked amongst the top 20 defenses throughout the 2024 season, ends their regular season with a 0.63 goals against average - the best in program history. The nine shutouts from Noel Pena and the TLU defense rank fourth in program history as a team and second all-time individually for Pena.
