Men's Soccer Records Eighth Shutout of 2024, Blanking Ozarks (AR), 2-0

CLARKSVILLE, AR -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team (7-2-4, 3-2-3 SCAC) returned to the win column with a 2-0 shutout of the University of the Ozarks Eagles (6-8-2, 3-5 SCAC) Friday night at the Wilson Athletic Complex in Clarksville, Arkansas. It was the team's eighth shutout of the season as they have allowed just eight goals through 13 games.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie through the first 45 minutes as both teams managed three shots in the first half.

At the 52:52 mark, Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) found Gavin Edwards (Missouri City/Ridge Point) who put the ball in the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Manke registered his second assist of the season on the game winning goal.

In the 70th minute, Manke would decide to score a goal for himself, his second of the season, to double the Bulldogs lead and bring the game to its final score.

Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) matched his season-high with five saves for his eighth clean sheet of the season and seventh win of the year. With the shutout, Pena needs just one more shutout to become TLU Men's Soccer's all-time leader in career shutouts as he currently trails Jonathan Michael (26.5, 2012-15) by 0.5 a shutout. Pena also trails his own single season record from a season ago (9.5) by 1.5 shutouts.

Texas Lutheran is back in action on Sunday against Centenary at 12 PM in Shreveport for their final road contest of the season as they continue to fight for the final two spots in the 2024 SCAC Tournament. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
