Ten From Texas Lutheran Men's Soccer Earn SCAC Honors

SEGUIN, Texas -- Ten from Texas Lutheran men's soccer were selected for 2023 All-SCAC honors, the league office announced Friday. Juniors Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) and Diego Roman (Houston/Lamar) were named All-SCAC First Team selections, senior Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) was named All-SCAC Second Team, Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point), Noah Harris (Missouri City/Elkins), Preston Huff (Cypress/Cy-Fair), Cole Sixkiller (San Antonio/Reagan), Erick Lopez (Humble/Humble), Gavin Edwards (Missouri City/Ridge Point) were all named All-SCAC Honorable Mention while Michael Wells (Klein/Klein) represented TLU on the All-SCAC Freshman Team.

With 10 selections this year, Texas Lutheran has earned 58 All-SCAC selections under head coach Eddie Salazar since joining the SCAC in 2013. The 10 selections are the most All-SCAC selections in program history.

The All-SCAC First Team honor is the second consecutive for Jack Manke and his fifth career All-SCAC honor while the First Team honor is the first for Diego Roman and third overall. Manke tied for the team lead with nine goals and was second on the team with 20 points while leading the team with six game winners on the season. Diego Roman tallied a goal and two assists on the season.

Senior goalkeeper Noel Pena earned his first career All-SCAC honor as a member of the All-SCAC Second Team. Pena had a stellar season in-goal for a Bulldog defense that ranked amongst the best in the country. Pena led the SCAC in save percentage (.864) and goals against average (0.41) - ranking fifth nationally in goals against average and 15th in save percentage. Pena also set a new program record with 9.5 shutouts this season, ranking tenth nationally.

Noah Harris, Preston Huff, Cole Sixkiller, and Gavin Edwards all earned their first career All-SCAC honors. Huff tied for the team lead with nine goals and led the Bulldogs with 21 points, ranking fifth in the SCAC.

Louis Hart earned his third career All-SCAC honor while Erick Lopez earned his second. Hart tallied three goals and three assists in 2023 - both career highs - while Lopez recorded six goals and three assists.

Freshman Michael Wells represented TLU on the All-SCAC Freshman Team. The freshman forward recorded one goal - the game winner against Schreiner - in his first season as a Bulldog.

The Bulldogs concluded the 2023 season with a 14-3 record, going 5-3 in the SCAC to claim fifth place in the conference in the regular season. The 14-3 finish is the best finish in program history by winning percentage (.824). The 14 wins tied for the second most in program history.
