Manke Earns Third SCAC Weekly Honor of the Season

SEGUIN, Texas -- For the third time in five weeks, Texas Lutheran junior captain Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) has earned a SCAC weekly honor in three of the five weeks of the 2023 campaign so far, earning his second SCAC Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday, the conference announced.

Manke, a Houston native, anchored the midfield and protected a backline that didn't allow a single goal in their first two matches of SCAC play over the weekend. The Bulldogs opened the weekend with a shutout of Schreiner before shutting out then 11th-ranked Trinity Sunday evening to improve to 11-0 on the season. The win is the first win over the Tigers since the 2019 SCAC Tournament and the Bulldogs 13th win in a row dating back to last season.

The shutouts raise the Bulldogs tally to eight on the season - tying for the third most in program history, trailing only the 10 shutout seasons in 2003 and 2015.

After a four-game homestand, the Bulldogs will now venture out on a four-game road trip starting with a trip to Shreveport, Louisiana, for a matchup with the Centenary College Gents on Friday, Oct. 6. The match is scheduled for a 7 PM kick off. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com
