Hart Earns Second Career SCAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran junior defender Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point) was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career as announced by the league office on Monday. This is the third time in four weeks that the Bulldogs have earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor in 2023.

The Missouri City native continues to anchor an elite Texas Lutheran back line as he played 247 of a possible 270 minutes in the Bulldogs three matches last week in which the Bulldogs once again did not allow a goal in run of play and only allowed one goal via penalty kick in three matches. In total, the Bulldogs defense only allowed 16 shots over the course of the three matches with only five on-goal.

Nationally, Texas Lutheran ranks fourth in NCAA Division-III in goals against average (0.333) and 11th in shutout percentage (.667) with six clean sheets already this season.

This is the fourth weekly honor for a Texas Lutheran player this season with Jack Manke and Noel Pena earning honors this season.

The Bulldogs are currently on the best start in program history with their 9-0 start to the 2023 season. The Bulldogs will open SCAC play on Friday at Gustafson Field as they welcome the Schreiner Mountaineers (4-3-1) to Seguin. The match is scheduled for 7:30 PM and will be broadcast on TLU+. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
