Noel Pena Named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Following a nine save, two shutout weekend, Texas Lutheran men's soccer's Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's (SCAC) Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.

This marks the second SCAC weekly honor in Pena's career. Additionally, his selection marks the second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week for Texas Lutheran after Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) earned the honors last week.

Pena played all 180 minutes in-goal for the Bulldogs, corralling nine saves, including a season-high five in the victory over UMHB. Pena currently leads the SCAC with three shutouts, a .929 save percentage and a 0.25 goals-against average, while his 13 total saves on the year are tied for second best in the league.

Texas Lutheran begins the back end of their season opening seven game road trip with a two-game weekend in Richardson, Texas, starting with a matchup with the UT-Dallas Comets on Friday, September 15 at 7 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
