Green Earns First Team Academic All-American Honors

SEGUIN, Texas -- The accolades continue to roll in for Texas Lutheran senior forward Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) as the decorated forward was named a First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators on Wednesday for excelling in the classroom and on the pitch this season.

Green is collecting his second career Academic All-America honor, having earned Second Team honors in 2020-21. Green led the Bulldogs with 19 goals and 44 points during the regular season - finishing in the top 10 in NCAA Division-III in both categories. The forward received several postseason accolades, including SCAC Offensive Player of the Year for a record fifth time, First Team All-SCAC, First Team All-Region X, and United Soccer Coaches All-America honors. Green is pursuing a masters degree in Data Analytics.

Green capped off his historic career with a five-goal performance against Austin College in a win to bring his career total to an SCAC record 81 goals in just 78 games played. With that effort, he became just the fourth player in conference history, and the first since 2010, to score five or more goals in one contest. Green stands alone with his career marks, leaving Seguin first in SCAC history in goals scored (81), points (182), goals per game (1.04) and points per game (2.33). A nine-time SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week honoree during his TLU career, including three times this season, Green finishes his career tied for 10th all-time in NCAA history for career goals. In fact, his 81 goals are the most to cap off a career since Andrew Jenkins of St. Scholastica finished his career with 90 goals back in 2014.

Texas Lutheran finished 8-4-5 on the year, including 4-2-2 in SCAC play.
