TLU Men's Soccer Falls to Southwestern, 2-0

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team (6-4-5, 2-2-2 SCAC) fell 2-0 to the Southwestern University Pirates (6-5-2, 4-2 SCAC) Saturday night at Southwestern's Varsity Field.

The Bulldogs outshot the Pirates 10-6, and held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Bulldogs back line would hold the Pirates offense without a shot in the first half.

The match remained scoreless until a 75th minute Pirates goal gave Southwestern a 1-0 advantage and the Pirates would double their lead five minutes later to bring the match to its final score, 2-0.

Southwestern goalkeeper Jack Viles, a First Team All-SCAC honoree a season ago, registered six saves in goal against the Bulldogs Saturday night. Gavin Edwards (Missouri City/Ridge Point) and Erick Lopez (Humble/Humble) led the Bulldogs with three shots. Lopez would register two of the Bulldogs six shots on goal.

The Bulldogs will return to the pitch next Friday, Oct. 28, as the Bulldogs begin their final regular season weekend with a match against the University of Dallas. First kick is scheduled for 5 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
