Luis Green Makes History as TLU Shuts Out Centenary, 5-0

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) has a new all-time career goals leader. Texas Lutheran collected its second consecutive 5-0 shut out victory - highlighted by two goals from senior Luis Green's (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) - who with his second goal set a new SCAC career mark in front of the Texas Lutheran faithful at Gustafson Field that have borne witness to a multitude of the now SCAC record 74 goals that he has scored throughout his Texas Lutheran career. With his 74th goal, not only does Green surpass Oglethorpe's Will Lukow on the SCAC list, Green also climbs into the top 20 in NCAA Division-III history - tying Steve Spirk of Wilmington (OH) for 18th all-time. Green, who raised his career point total to 166 points, now needs three points to surpass Lukow (167 points) and Trinity's Josh Card (168 points) for the SCAC all-time career points record. Green currently leads the SCAC in goals (12) and points (28) for the 2022 season.

Texas Lutheran came out firing on all cylinders in the first half. Jorge Ugaz (Cibolo/Clemens) got the scoring started in the 3rd minute, finding the back of the net following an assist from Erick Lopez (Humble/Humble). Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point) would quickly double the Bulldogs advantage scoring two minutes later via an assist from Green. Luis Green would score the first of his two goals in the 18th minute to give Texas Lutheran a 3-0 lead. Texas Lutheran would continue to pad their first half lead in the 30th minute as Gavin Edwards (Missouri City/Ridge Point) chipped a ball over the Centenary goalkeeper following an assist from Luis Green - his second of the night - to give Texas Lutheran a 4-0 advantage entering halftime.

Texas Lutheran dominated the ball in the first half, maintaining a 12-2 shot advantage.

The Texas Lutheran offense slowed in the second half until Green gave the Texas Lutheran fan base one last jolt to end the night - scoring in the 85th minute to break the SCAC record and bring the match to its final score of 5-0.

The 5-0 shut out makes for Texas Lutheran's eighth clean sheet of the season.

Texas Lutheran now turns their attention to 18th-ranked St. Thomas who will travel to Gustafson Field to face the Bulldogs on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 2 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
