Bulldogs Suffer Loss at Rival Trinity (TX)

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team suffered its first conference loss of the season in Friday night's conference opener, taking a 3-2 defeat against Trinity in San Antonio.

Trinity (3-3-2, 1-0 SCAC) got the scoring started in the 18th minute - taking an early 1-0 advantage that the Tigers would carry into halftime.

Texas Lutheran (4-3-3, 0-1 SCAC) got off to a hot start in the second half with senior Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) netting a goal on a breakaway set up by Santiago Quinonez (Chihuahua, Mexico/New Braunfels). The goal was Green's seventh of the season and 69th of his career.

The Tigers regained the lead following a 76th minute goal that started an electric three minutes of soccer that saw three goals in three minutes. Texas Lutheran responded quickly, with Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point) netting his second goal of the season in the 78th minute. Twenty-two seconds later, Trinity was able to break the 2-2 tie to gain a 3-2 advantage.

The Bulldogs were unable to find the late equalizer with a Luis Green shot in the 87th minute presenting the Bulldogs final scoring opportunity.

Trinity outshot Texas Lutheran 15-3 on the night with the Tigers maintaining a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs play their final match of their three game road trip on Sunday, Oct. 2, as the Bulldogs travel to Kerrville to play the Schreiner Mountaineers. Kick off is scheduled for 1 PM at Mountaineer Soccer Field. All streaming and live stats links will be available at tlubulldogs.com.
