Texas Lutheran Rolls Past Hardin-Simmons, 4-0

ABILENE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's soccer pushed past Hardin-Simmons (1-3-3) under the lights at HSU Soccer Complex in Abilene, Texas, thanks in part to yet another stellar defensive effort from the Bulldogs defense and an electric performance from Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) Tuesday night. The Bulldogs advanced to 3-1-3 in 4-0 fashion as Green recorded two goals and an assist for the second consecutive night in Abilene.

Erick Lopez (Humble/Humble) got the scoring started for the Bulldogs finding the back of the net in the 18th minute for his third goal of the season to give the Bulldogs the early 1-0 advantage.

Senior Marco Roman (Houston/Lamar) would tally Texas Lutheran's second goal just three minutes later via an assist from Luis Green. Texas Lutheran would carry the 2-0 advantage into halftime.

Luis Green would register the Bulldogs' third and fourth goals of the night in the second half. The third came in the 63rd minute unassisted while the fourth would come in the 87th minute on an assist from Erick Lopez.

The Bulldogs defense put on another display of solid defense as Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) and Caleb Weed (San Antonio/Warren) registered their fifth clean sheet of the season. Weed would collect the winning decision to move to 2-0-2 on the season. The Texas Lutheran defense continues to be amidst Division-III's best as they entered tonight's match tied for third in the nation in shutouts and tied for 14th in shutout percentage (.667). Individually, Caleb Weed ranked 14th in the nation in goals against average (.319).
