Freshman Ortega named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, TX -- Texas Lutheran freshman defender Jair Ortega (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Ortega led the Bulldog offense last week that secured six critical points in the standings to keep TLU alive for postseason play. In the Bulldogs' win over Dallas, Ortega registered a goal and added an assist to Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) and then scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Austin College on Sunday. In total, Ortega accounted for five points on two goals and one assist to help keep TLU in the hunt for the SCAC Tournament.

Ortega shares this week's honor with University of St. Thomas' Daniel Castro.
