SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs secured the No. 4 seed for next weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship with a 3-0 victory Saturday against Centenary College (La.).
The Bulldogs improved to 5-3 overall and to 5-3 in the SCAC with the win. Centenary fell to 3-5-1 and to 3-4.
The Bulldogs, the defending SCAC champions, will face No. 5 seed University of St. Thomas (Texas) at 11 a.m. Friday at Centenary College in Shreveport, La.
In Saturday's win, Nicolas Medina put TLU in front with a shot in the 13th minute off an assist from Luis Green.
Brandon Marin added the second goal with a shot in the 55th minute. Jared Esparza provided the assist.
Green sealed the win with a penalty kick conversion in the 65th minute.
TLU out-shot the Gents 14-8. Noel Pena and Caleb Weed each made two saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
Saturday's match was the final home match for four Bulldog seniors - Mitchell Long, Josh Chavez, Francisco Olvera, and Peyton Williams. The four seniors were honored in a post-match ceremony at Gustafson Field.
