Trinity nets three second-half goals to notch conference win over TLU

SAN ANTONIO -- Trinity turned a scoreless match at the half into a 3-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Saturday over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs.
 
Trinity improved to 4-0-1 overall and to 4-0-1 in the SCAC.
 
TLU, the defending SCAC champion, fell to 3-3 overall and to 3-3 in the SCAC.
 
Jack Downes put the Tigers in front 1-0 when he converted a penalty kick in the 58th minute.
 
Wesley Mitchell and Ethan Moore added goals in the 73rd and 81st minutes, respectively.
 
Trinity out-shot TLU 23-3. The Tigers had a 10-2 edge in shots on goal.
 
Caleb Weed made seven saves for TLU in goal.
 
The Bulldogs' final two games of the regular season will be played in Seguin at TLU's Gustafson Field. TLU hosts Colorado College at noon Sunday, April 11 and Centenary at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17.
 
No visiting teams fans are allowed at Gustafson Field. TLU fans must be on the Bulldog player pass list for admittance to the match.
