SEGUIN, Texas -- Kelvin Cardona's goal in the 63rd minute gave the University of St. Thomas (Texas) a 1-0 conference victory Saturday afternoon over Texas Lutheran.
The loss spoiled the 2021 spring home-opener for the Bulldogs, who dropped to 1-2 overall and to 1-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
St. Thomas improved to 1-1-1 overall and to 1-1 in the SCAC.
Cardona scored unassisted against the Bulldogs.
UST out-shot TLU 9-2 overall and had the match's only four shots on goal.
Caleb Weed made three saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
TLU plays next on Saturday, March 20 in a home match against Austin College. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m. at TLU's Gustafson Field.
