Green, Bulldogs start year on good note with 2-1 road win at Dallas

IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran All-American Luis Green scored the 39th and 40th goals of his career to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-1 conference win Thursday over the University of Dallas.
 
TLU, the defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion, moved to 1-0 overall and to 1-0 in conference play.
 
Dallas fell to 0-1 overall and to 0-1 in the SCAC.
 
Green scored at the 2:36 mark and then at the 19:47 mark. Adrian Maldonado assisted on the first goal, and Abram Mendez provided the assist on the second.
 
Green took five total shots. Four of the shots were on goal.
 
Green now has 40 goals in 40 career matches with the Bulldogs. Green is the two-time SCAC Offensive Player of the Year. He is a two-time All-American and a member of the SCAC's 30th Anniversary Team.
 
Dallas moved within a goal in the 54th minute on a shot from Chase Reynolds. Cody Briggs recorded the assist.
 
Caleb Weed made two saves in goal for the Bulldogs. Goncalo Pernas registered four saves for the Crusaders.
 
TLU out-shot Dallas 9-2 in the first half and 14-9 overall.
 
The Bulldogs return to action Sunday for a conference match at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. The match is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
