Green scores three times as Texas Lutheran edges Colorado College 3-2 at Gustafson

SEGUIN, Texas -- Sophomore forward Luis Green scored three times Friday night to send the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 3-2 victory over the Colorado College Tigers.
 
The non-conference win moved TLU to 4-2 overall. Colorado College dropped to 4-3. The match pitted two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference teams against one another, but the match did not count in the league standings. SCAC play does not begin until October.
 
At Gustafson Field, TLU was out-shot 23-13 overall, but the Bulldogs converted on three of their eight shots on goal. CC had nine shots on goal.
 
Bulldog keeper Caleb Weed made seven saves.
 
Green tied the match at 1-1 with a goal in the 37th minute off an assist from Marco Roman.
 
Green gave TLU its first lead with a goal in the 65th minute. The goal was unassisted.
 
The final Green goal came in the 76th minute with an assist from Chris Medina.
 
The Tigers pulled within one goal with a goal in the 87th minute. Kiran Singh scored for the Tigers late. Aidan Longhurst gave CC the early lead with a shot in the 23rd minute.
 
TLU continues non-conference action Sunday with a 2 p.m. home match against Johnson & Wales - Denver. The match will be played at TLU's Gustafson Field.
