Wills Earns SCAC Golfer of the Week Award

SEGUIN, Texas -- After winning Texas Lutheran's season opening tournament, the 2024 Space City Classic, junior Tobey Wills (Richmond/Foster) has earned his fifth career Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Golfer of the Week honor, the league office announced Wednesday morning.

The Richmond, Texas, native carded rounds of 70, 71 and 70, as the junior posted a three round total of 211 to finish at one-under. He was the only player in the 52-person field to finish the tournament at under par. Wills finished second in the field in pars made (37) and was tied for fifth with 10 birdies at the Gus Wortham Park Golf Course in Houston. The win marks the third individual championship in Wills' career.

Wills led his team to a fifth place finish as Texas Lutheran finished with a three round score of 898 (+46).

This is Wills' fifth career SCAC weekly honor and second of the 2023-24 season.

Texas Lutheran's next tournament of the spring will begin in 19 days as the team travels to DeSoto, Texas, to compete in the Texas Cup. The event, hosted by UT-Dallas and played at the Thorntree Golf Club, will be played Mar. 18-19.
