Bulldogs Finish Sixth at SCAC Championship

KERRVILLE, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's golf team concluded the 2023 SCAC Championship with a 21-over par 309 final round on Tuesday to finish in sixth place at 67-over par 931 at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville, Texas. St. Thomas captured the team title with a 54-hole total of 20-over par 884 (291-299-294), seven strokes ahead of host Schreiner (891). Schreiner's Zhao Yung Gu won the individual title at 1-over par 217.

Despite the team finish, Tobey Wills (Richmond/Foster) paced TLU with the second consecutive top five SCAC Championship finish for the sophomore. Wills placed fourth with a three-round total of four-over par 220 (73-73-74) earning him a spot on the All-SCAC Men's Golf First Team.

Chandler Otto (Round Rock/Cedar Ridge), a senior, tied for 21st place at 17-over par 233 after carding a 5-over par 77 in the third round.

Next on the leaderboard for TLU was Caleb Kruse (Fredericksburg/Fredericksburg) who placed 29th at 23-over par 239. Freshman Foster Stoltz tied for 32nd place with a final tally of 246. Reece Whittemore (Deer Park/Deer Park) was able to card his tournament-best round on Tuesday at 7-over par 79, as he finished at 33-over par and in 35th place.
