Bulldogs post round of the day, grab second place at West Region Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Golf posted the low round of the day - a 292 Tuesday at Berry Creek Country Club - and took second place in the team standings at the West Region Invitational.
 
Chandler Otto, Cameron Carter and Chase Maus carded rounds of 70, 71 and 71, respectively, to propel the Bulldogs' comeback efforts.
 
TLU entered the final round trailing host Southwestern by 20 shots. TLU cut eight shots off the Pirates' lead. Southwestern won by 12 shots with a three-round total of 879.
 
TLU was second with a tournament total of 891. TLU was second by 15 shots over Concordia Texas.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor, Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne, and Schreiner rounded out the team standings.
 
Maus placed third in the individual title race. He was two shots behind winner Austin Kelly and a single stroke behind Colin O'Hern. Kelly and O'Hern paced Southwestern's team title efforts.
 
Carter moved up to a tie for ninth for TLU, and Otto jumped up to a tie for 18th.
 
Nathan Haley and Matthew McArthur completed the tournament with ties for 20th and 30th, respectively.
 
TLU next heads to the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships, to be played April 19-20 at Vaaler Creek Country Club in Blanco, Texas.
