Texas Lutheran Men's Golf in third after round one at SCAC Conference Preview

BLANCO, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Golf sits in third place after a team score of 305 Monday at the SCAC Conference Preview tournament, played Monday at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.

The Bulldogs trail Trinity (290) and Southwestern (303). Trinity "B" (314), St. Thomas (316), and Schreiner (330) round out the field.

Trinity's Daniel Nunez fired a 3-under 69 to claim the first-round lead. Nick Morris of St. Thomas is second after a 1-under 71.

TLU's Matthew McArthur (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) is in a tie for eighth after a 75.

Nathan Haley (Richmond/Foster) and Chase Maus (Manor/Manor) are tied for 11th and 15th, respectively, after rounds of 76 and 77.

Chandler Otto (Round Rock/Cedar Ridge) also is tied for 15th after his 77. Cameron Carter (Rock Springs, Wyo./Kelly Walsh) is in 21st after a 79.

The tournament gives the men's and women's players of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference a look at the course that will host the SCAC Championships on April 19-20.

This week's tournament concludes Tuesday with a final 18 holes at Vaaler Creek.
