TLU Men's Golf sits in tie for fifth at Bohmann Memorial

 
SEGUIN, Texas -- The host Texas Lutheran Bulldogs sit in a tie for fifth place after two rounds Monday at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational at Seguin's Max Starcke Park Municipal Golf Course.
 
The Bulldogs were second out of 10 teams at the conclusion of the first round around 1 p.m. Monday after opening the 2019-20 golf season with a 1-over 285. TLU posted a 15-over 299 in the second round to drop back to fifth.
 
Bulldog golfers Chase Maus and Cameron Carter are tied for 19th. Maus opened with a 77 but bounced back with a 1-under 70. Carter started with an even par 71 but shot a 5-over 76 in the second round.
 
TLU was led in the first round by Evan Skaar, who carded a 2-under 69. Skaar slid back to 30th overall after an 81 in the second round.
 
Teammates Matthew McArthur and Nathan Haley are tied for 25th. McArthur had rounds of 74 and 75, and Haley carded a 71 and a 78.

The Bulldogs are tied for fifth with the University of Texas at Dallas. TLU and UTD have team scores of 584, 14 shots behind two-round leader McMurry. The War Hawks shot a 5-under 279 in the opening round and a 7-over 291 in the second round.
 
McMurry leads the University of Dallas by seven shots and LeTourneau University by nine. Southwestern, in fourth, is 10 shots back.
 
Trinity, in seventh, is followed by the Trinity "B" team, Centenary College (La.), and the Southwestern "B" team.
 
The final 18 holes of the tournament begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Starcke Park.
