Texas Lutheran's Matthew McArthur named SCAC Men's Golfer of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran junior Matthew McArthur was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week after his performance at last week's BSN Sports Dataw Invite in Dataw, S.C.
 
McArthur placed fifth overall in the 88-golfer field, and he led the Bulldogs to a sixth-place team finish.
 
The overnight leader after rounds of 73 and 71 last Monday, McArthur shot a 76 on Tuesday and finished three shots behind individual champion Brendon Lowrance of McMurry.
 
The honor for McArthur marks the fifth time in the 2019-20 season that the Bulldogs had an SCAC Men's Golfer of the Week.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year golfer Daniel Nunez of Trinity finished alone in fourth after shooting 1-under 71 each day for a 142 total at the Schreiner Spring Shootout. He was just one stroke from the leaders of the tournament. Junior Emilio Montalvo of Dallas, along with teammate Jacob Wade, finished tied for 14th in the 58-player field at the Schriener Spring Shootout with a two-day total of 151. Montalvo had rounds of 76 and 75. Sophomore Christopher Cameron of Schreiner joined Dallas' Montalvo and Wade as part of the four-way tie for 14th place with a two-day 151 at the Schreiner Shootout to pace the Mountaineers.
