Texas Lutheran Falls to Hardin-Simmons in Season Opener, 93-77

ABILENE, Texas -- Despite double-digit efforts from Easton Allen (New Braunfels/Marion) and Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O'Connor), the Texas LUtheran men's basketball team fell in its season opener to Hardin-Simmons, 93-77, at the Mabee Complex on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University.

Allen and Orozco both poured in 12 points in the season opener and would be the only Bulldogs in double figures. Teddy Tapken (Austin/Lake Travis) finished with eight points and four rebounds while Hayden Wilson (Corpus Christi/Flour Bluff) finished with seven points and a team-high five rebounds in their respective collegiate debuts. Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson) added eight points and matched Orozco with a team-high three assists.

Texas Lutheran trailed the entire game, with the largest deficit of 18 points coming late in the first half. The Bulldogs were able to pull the score within six points with 3:11 remaining in the second half before the Cowboys pulled away, preventing a Bulldogs comeback.

The Cowboys shot 59.3% from the field on the night and held a 34-27 advantage on the glass.

Texas Lutheran wraps its Abilene doubleheader tomorrow night, Nov. 11, as they face the McMurry War Hawks at 5 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
