Easton Allen named SCAC Character & Community Male Student Athlete of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Easton Allen, a junior forward on the men's basketball team, has been selected as the SCAC Character and Community Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning with October 30th.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Allen is hard to miss on the Texas Lutheran campus, not only due to his 6'6" frame but his involvement on campus. During the winter you'll find him starring on the basketball court for the TLU Men's basketball team. In the fall and spring, you'll find him in the press box as the voice of TLU's football, baseball, and softball broadcasts. He's been a model student in the classroom earning CSC Academic All-District and NABC Honors Court honors behind a 4.0 GPA.

That has not stopped Allen from getting involved in the community as well as the New Braunfels native has given back to the community he calls home. Allen has volunteered at the New Braunfels food bank and also cleared land at a local ranch for disabled veterans as a part of Texas Lutheran's Day of the Dogs initiative.

As an active member in TLU's Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), Allen has also collected candy to hand out to local kids in Seguin during Halloween and has helped raise money for healthy meals for kids over the holidays.

When asked about all the different ways his community involvement Allen stated, "Being able to receive a higher education while still playing the sport I love is something I've never taken for granted. And it's a big reason why I've always taken advantage of any opportunities to give back to the communities that have helped me reach this point. Being able to put a smile on somebody's face means the world to me because that lets me know I'm making a real difference to those that need it most."

Allen has been a pillar in the TLU community not only with his play and his voice but his actions on campus and abroad in the Seguin and New Braunfels communities.
