Texas Lutheran Announces 2023-24 Men's Basketball Schedule
SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's basketball announced its complete 2023-24 schedule on Wednesday. The Bulldogs, under second year head coach Austin Falke, will play 11 non-conference games, including two exhibitions, in addition to 16 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) contests.
The Bulldogs will open the 2023-24 season on Nov. 2 at the McDermott Convocation Center in an exhibition against University of the Incarnate Word before officially opening the season on Nov. 10 in Abilene against Hardin-Simmons followed by a Nov. 11 matchup with McMurry on the south side of Abilene.
The Bulldogs will open at "The Dog House" Memorial Gymnasium with 2023 NCAA Sweet Sixteen participant Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday, Nov. 15, followed by match-ups with UT-Dallas and Concordia in a stretch that sees three home games in six days.
The week of Thanksgiving takes the Bulldogs to Alpine and Brownwood where they will compete against Sul Ross State (Nov. 24) and Howard Payne (Nov. 25).
TLU returns to Seguin to open conference play against the 2022-23 SCAC Champions, Schreiner (Dec. 1), and Trinity (Dec. 2). A two-game road swing opens on Friday, Dec. 15, with a trip to Colorado Springs to face Colorado College before traveling to Corpus Christi for an exhibition against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday, Dec. 18. The Bulldogs then return to Seguin for a four-game homestand for non-conference rematches with Hardin-Simmons (Dec. 20) and McMurry (Dec. 21) followed by SCAC games against Austin College (Dec. 29) and Dallas (Dec. 30) to close the 2023 calendar year.
The Bulldogs open 2024 with a five-game SCAC road trip with trips to Centenary (Jan. 5), St. Thomas (Jan. 7), Schreiner (Jan. 19), Trinity (Jan. 20), and Southwestern (Jan. 23). The Bulldogs will make a quick stop back at the Dog House against Colorado College on Jan. 28 before heading out on the road once again for road contests against Austin College (Feb. 2) and Dallas (Feb. 3).
The Bulldogs close the regular season with a three-game homestand against Centenary (Feb. 9), St. Thomas (Feb. 10) and Southwestern (Feb. 16).
The SCAC Tournament will be held February 23-25, 2024, at The Gold Dome on the campus of Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The 2023-24 Bulldogs will be led by returning All-SCAC standouts Xavier Phillips (Austin/Dripping Springs), Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O'Connor), and Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson). Austin Falke and his staff added eight freshmen, including local prospect Carter Lewis (New Braunfels/New Braunfels), and junior transfer Semaj Edwards (Lanham, MD/Oak Hill/Friends University) over the offseason.
