HOUSTON, Texas -- Texas Lutheran dropped Friday's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) contest to 15th-ranked St. Thomas, 77-70, at Jerabeck Athletic and Activity Center in Houston.
DJ Ardoin (Houston/Pearland) scored 13 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs.
Texas Lutheran would lead the ranked Celts 38-29 at halftime - as Texas Lutheran shot 50% from the field, led by 10 points each from Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O'Connor).
The Bulldogs struggled to get stops in the second half, as the Celts poured on 48 points on 56% shooting in a second half effort reminiscent of the team's mid-December meeting that saw the highly-touted Celts also mount a second half comeback. The Celts would outscore the Bulldogs 48-36 to foil the Bulldogs upset attempt.
Up next, Texas Lutheran continues conference play with a rematch with the Centenary College Gents following a fiery contest earlier this season that saw the Bulldogs overcome a 25-point second half deficit to win at the buzzer.
