Roberts' late bucket lifts Trinity to 51-50 win at Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas -- Abdullah Roberts' short jumper with 1.02 seconds to play lifted the Trinity Tigers to a 51-50 road victory over Texas Lutheran Men's Basketball.

Roberts' shot capped the Tigers' comeback from a 13-point, second-half deficit. Trinity had the lead for just one second the entire game.

Trinity won its fifth straight game and improved to 5-1 overall and to 5-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Tigers took both games of its two-game road trip to TLU's Memorial Gymnasium. Trinity won 77-66 over TLU on Friday night.

Trinity out-scored TLU 29-18 in the second half. The Bulldogs led 32-22 at the half.

TLU was hurt by poor second-half free throw shooting for a second game in a row. After making just six out of 14 free throw attempts in the second half of Friday's loss, the Bulldogs made just 6-for-14 again in Saturday's second half.

Kaleb Jenkins and Tanner Brown scored 11 and 10, respectively, for the Tigers. A.J. Clark scored seven and had seven boards for Trinity.

TLU received 15 points off the bench from freshman guard Xavier Phillips. Phillips had 11 of his 15 in the first half. He hit his first three three-pointers of the game.

Sebastian Andrade added 10 points. Freshman post Garrett Prince blocked five shots and pulled down five rebounds.

TLU returns to action next Friday and Saturday with road contests at Southwestern University.
