TLU Football's Jackson O'Neil Named to ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Football Team

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Texas Lutheran offensive lineman Jackson O'Neil (Katy/Cinco Ranch) has been named to the American Southwest Conference's Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Football Team for the 2021-22 academic year, per a conference release on Wednesday.

O'Neil, a junior during the 2021-22 academic year, was TLU's representative among the honorees from the 10 football-playing schools in the ASC.

O'Neil holds a 3.94 grade point average as a Theology and Sociology double major.

The Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Teams recognize student-athletes who achieve a high level of academic achievement (a 3.20 grade-point average or better) while competing as a starter or important reserve on their team. From that list – limited to one nominee per school in each ASC championship sport – the sports information directors from the 12 ASC member institutions and three affiliate members select a Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in each sport.

O'Neil also received All-ASC Honorable Mention honors for his play on the field during the 2021 season and was named ASC Academic All-Conference last week.
