Football Falls to 2nd-Ranked UMHB

BELTON, TX -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor used 455 yards of total offense to defeat Texas Lutheran, 49-3, Saturday afternoon at Crusader Stadium.

The Crusaders scored on their first two offensive plays and on each of their first five offensive possessions in the first half to break the game open 35-0. The Bulldogs attempted to turn the tide but couldn't sustain a rally.

Junior quarterback Seth Cosme (Angleton/Angleton) finished the day 8-of-15 passing for 55 yards. Quarterbacks Kelby Cox (Blanco/Blanco) & Te'Ray Lewis (Houston/Westbury Christian) also saw action going a combined 0-4 passing with Lewis adding 5 yards on the ground.

Cosme also led the Bulldogs on the ground with 40 yards on 17 carries. Roland Bland Jr. (Houston/Clear Lake) was Texas Lutheran's top receiver with 22 yards on two catches. Aaron Sotelo (Castroville/Medina Valley) chipped in with 2 receptions for 11 yards.

Sophomore Canon Kromis (Cedar Park/Vista Ridge) led the Bulldogs defense with a career high 8 tackles - 6 solo. Sultan Abdullah (Sweeny/Columbia) posted 6 tackles, while the returning Dimitri Zavala (Houston/Elkins) posted 5 tackles in his first game back from injury.

The Bulldogs return home next weekend to face the War Hawks of McMurry University in American Southwest Conference action at 1 PM at Bulldog Stadium. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
