Eight Bulldogs Earn All-SCAC Honors

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran's Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) and Kash Durkin (Liberty Hill/Liberty Hill) were voted to the All-SCAC First Team to highlight the Bulldogs eight total selections, as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) revealed its 2025 All-SCAC Baseball teams on Friday.

Additionally, Mason Goudeau (Liberty/Liberty), Tyler Helpenstill (Pearland/Lutheran South), Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays), Triston McGowan (Vidor/Vidor), Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial), and Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) each received honorable mention accolades as the awards were voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Bourgeois takes home his first career All-SCAC First Team honor. The League City native put together a slash line of .325/.409/.541 to go with 26 RBI and 22 extra base hits. Bourgeois finished the season third in Division-III with eight triples in 2025, falling one short of the program record. On the year, he turned in 16 multi-hit efforts along with seven games with multiple runs driven in. Bourgeois also managed a 19-game hit streak through the heart of the Bulldogs schedule. Bourgeois also scored a team-high 43 runs.

In his first season as a Bulldog, Durkin led TLU with his .699 slugging percentage, that includes 13 doubles, two triples, and a team-high nine home runs. Six of Durkin's nine home runs came in conference play.

Durkin started 37 of 39 games, as the Bulldogs right fielder's slash line finished at .375/.503/.699 along with 38 runs batted in. A native of Liberty Hill, Durkin registered 16 multi-hit games along with 12 games with multiple RBI.

Goudeau received honorable mention for the second consecutive season, turning in a slash line of .331/.384/.463 with three home runs. Goudeau finished with a career-high 53 hits, three triples and 28 RBI.

Helpenstill appeared in 34 games platooning between first base and designated hitter, driving in 19 runs with 14 extra base hits.

In his first season with TLU, Jen slashed .274/.369/.472 with 30 runs batted in and 32 runs scored. The true freshman from Kyle hit for the cycle and was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week earlier this season. The freshman infielder had seven multi-RBI games this season.

McGowan had a breakout season for the pitching staff and earns his first career postseason honor, as he finished the season with a 3.70 ERA and 6-5 record. A native of Vidor, McGowan punched out a career-high 11 batters in the Bulldogs victory over Centenary. He was named SCAC Pitcher of the Week three times this season as he led the Bulldogs with 59 strikeouts this season.

Peavy collects SCAC accolades for the second straight year, as the junior first baseman hit a career-high .358 with four home runs and 27 RBI. 

Also in his first season with the Bulldogs, Sprencel led the team with 39 RBI and earned three saves as a relief pitcher, tossing 12.1 innings in addition to his duties as TLU's everyday third baseman.

The Bulldogs concluded the 2025 season with a 24-15 record, going 17-13 in the SCAC to finish in a tie for fourth place in the conference in the regular season.
