#RV Baseball Defeats Austin College, 4-3
SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran Baseball beat Austin College, 4-3, at Katt-Isbel Field Friday night to take the series opener and improve to 16-6 (9-4 SCAC) on the season.
Isaiah Ramirez (San Antonio/Marshall) picked up the win in relief after a stellar outing, striking out four batters and allowing three hits in 4.2 innings of work.
Austin College got the scoring started with two runs in the top of the first before Texas Lutheran cut the 'Roos lead in half with a solo home run from Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) in the bottom half of the inning.
The 'Roos lead returned to two runs following a bases loaded walk in the second inning, making the game 3-1 which is where the score would remain until the seventh inning.
The Bulldogs knotted the game at three in the seventh. Three straight walks to start the inning loaded the bases for Bourgeois who would draw a bases loaded walk to bring in a run. A sacrifice fly from Kash Durkin (Liberty Hill/Liberty Hill) scored Chance Greene (Round Rock/Stony Point) to tie the game at three.
The Bulldogs loaded the bases again in the eighth inning for Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays), who was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week earlier this week, who would also draw a bases loaded walk to drive in what would be the game-winning run.
Starter Garret Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) pitched 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and six walks.
Durkin and Mason Goudeau (Liberty/Liberty) each had two-hit nights, while Bourgeois was 1-for-3 with a homer, two RBI, a walk, and a run scored.
