Baseball Completes Sweep of Dallas

IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Baseball (14-6, 8-4 SCAC) totaled five extra base hits to complete the sweep of Dallas with a 9-2 win on Sunday at Crusader Field in Irving.

Mason Goudeau (Liberty/Liberty) went 3-for-6 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays) led the Bulldogs with three RBI all coming from an eighth inning three-run home run. Over the five-game week, Jen hit .381 with three homers, two doubles, a triple, 12 RBI, and 10 runs scored and hit for the cycle in game two of the series.

Triston McGowan (Vidor/Vidor) started and pitched six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits to earn his third win of the season. He struck out four batters and issued three walks. Isaiah Ramirez (San Antonio/Marshall) pitched three scoreless out of the bullpen to earn his first save of the season. He didn't allow any hits and only issued one walk in his three innings while striking out five batters.

Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial) hit an RBI single in the third inning to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Dallas took a 2-1 lead with runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Texas Lutheran retook the lead in the sixth inning on a two-RBI double from Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) to make the score 3-2.

The Bulldogs put together a three-run seventh inning to extend their lead to 6-2. Kameron Miller (Kenedy/Kenedy) stole third and scored on a throwing error by the Dallas catcher, one of six Crusaders errors on the afternoon. Aidan Spires (Fort Worth/Arlington Heights) scored on a Dallas throwing error and Mason Goudeau capped the inning with an RBI single to score Jen.

Jen delivered the final blow of the game, launching a three-run homer in the eighth inning to extend the lead to 9-2.

Texas Lutheran will travel to Brownwood to face Howard Payne on Tuesday, March 18, to wrap their six-game road trip. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
