#RV TLU Baseball Wins Series against Ozarks (AR)

SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran Baseball rallied for a 9-6 win to clinch the series over Ozarks (AR) on Saturday at Katt-Isbel Field.

The Bulldogs (10-5, 5-4 SCAC) were tied with the Eagles 6-6 after seven innings before scoring three runs in the eighth to finish off the Eagles.

Mason Goudeau (Liberty/Liberty) went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs including a crucial RBI double in the eighth inning while Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Sprencel came in with two runners on in the ninth inning to get the final two outs and earn his second save of the season. Triston McGowan (Vidor/Vidor) pitched eight innings to earn his second win of the season.

Ozarks opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI groundout before TLU responded with an RBI fielder's choice from Sprencel in the bottom of the inning.

Texas Lutheran took the lead in the second with a two RBI single in the second inning to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead.

Ozarks would scratch across a run an inning over the next three innings to regain the lead, 4-3.

The Bulldogs got all three runs back in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial), who would score on an Ozarks error following a single from Tyler Helpenstill (Pearland/Lutheran South). Helpenstill would score on an Ozarks wild pitch to bring the score to 6-4 TLU.

Ozarks got two of the runs back in the seventh to the game 6-6.

TLU put up a three-spot once again in the eighth to retake the lead and bring the game to its final score of 9-6 with all the runs coming with two outs. Chase Bourgeois reached on an error to score Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays) before Adam Peavy would also reach on an error to score Bourgeois. A Brayden Sprencel RBI double would score the final run of the game.

Carson Hues (Mont Belvieu/Barbers Hill) and Brayden Sprencel combined to pitch a scoreless ninth to close out the ballgame.

Texas Lutheran travels to Belton on Wednesday for a midweek, non-conference doubleheader against Mary Hardin-Baylor. First pitch is scheduled for 1 & 3 PM. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
