Beard Repeats as SCAC Pitcher of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran senior right-hander Brendan Beard (Coldspring/Coldspring-Oakhurst) was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday by the league office.

Beard, a product of Coldspring, Texas, defeated 14th-ranked Trinity by tossing an incredible 161-pitch complete game shutout to defeat the Tigers. Beard would strand 12 Tigers base runners in his shutout effort that saw him toss 161 pitches - 100 for strikes - striking out four and walking a trio. Over his last two starts, Beard has thrown 19 innings, allowing one run on eight hits while striking out 13 on 286 pitches.

Beard became the first Bulldog to shutout the Tigers since former teammate Matthew Hickey in 2019.

Beard improved to 5-0 on the year, while ranking third in the SCAC and 22nd in Division-III with 61 strikeouts and fourth in the SCAC with a 2.01 ERA. He is also second in the SCAC with a 0.93 WHIP.

Beard and the Bulldogs will look to bounce back in their final homestand against the Centenary College Gents starting on Friday at Katt-Isbel Field.
