Beard Named SCAC Pitcher of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- For the second time this season, Texas Lutheran right-handed pitcher Brendan Beard (Coldspring/Coldspring-Oakhurst) is the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Pitcher of the Week.

The senior right-hander had the longest outing of his career, pitching a ten-inning complete game and allowing just one run while striking out nine on 125 pitches to improve to 4-0 After allowing one run on three hits in the first inning, Beard would throw nine scoreless innings and only allow one hit over the final nine innings. Beard would retire 27 straight batters before a two-out single in the top of the tenth.

With his nine strikeout effort, Beard eclipsed the 200 career strikeout mark - increasing his career total to 206.

For the season, the Coldspring, Texas, native has a 2.42 ERA and 57 strikeouts, ranking third in the SCAC, and has held opposing hitters to a .225 batting average and maintains a 0.96 WHIP in eight appearances.

Beard and Texas Lutheran will head on the road to San Antonio to renew its rivalry with No. 16 Trinity starting Friday at 6 PM at Trinity Baseball Field. All games will be streamed on Trinity's Tiger Network. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
