Texas Lutheran Shuts Out Hardin-Simmons, 5-0

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran pitching staff combined for their second consecutive shutout of the season to lead TLU to a 5-0 victory over Hardin-Simmons Saturday afternoon.

JT Taylor (Conroe/Fort Bend Christian) got the start for the Bulldogs and would toss six shutout innings, striking out five while sprinkling four hits and three walks across the outing. Garrett Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) would toss the final three innings to earn the first save of his collegiate career.

Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial) drove in four of the Bulldogs runs Saturday afternoon. A bases loaded triple would get the scoring started in the third inning to give TLU a 3-0 lead before a fifth inning sacrifice fly in the fifth inning would push the lead to four.

Xavier Arias (La Vernia/Nixon-Smiley) would score on a Cowboys wild pitch in the ninth to add an extra insurance run and bring the game to its final score.
