Cappadona Earns CSC Academic All-District Honors

SEGUIN, Texas -- Senior Blake Cappadona (Mont Belvieu/Barbers Hill) was selected to the 2023 Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Cappadona, who boasts a 3.52 grade point average in Math Education 7-12, becomes the first Bulldog since 2021 to be named to the Academic All-District Team and fifth under head coach Rick Heines.

The Mont Belvieu, Texas product finished second in the SCAC in runs (41), at-bats (161), and triples (3), fourth in walks (28), and seventh in RBI (30) while batting .304 in 42 games.

Cappadona also made eight appearances on the mound, finishing with a 2-0 record. He totaled 21 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings, issuing just nine walks while opponents hit .203 against him.

Cappadona was named All-SCAC Second Team for the second consecutive season in 2023.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 7.

Texas Lutheran Baseball finished the season 29-15 and were the 2023 SCAC outright regular season champions for the first time in program history.
